Lamine Yamal, Right winger
From the Rocafonda neighbourhood of Mataró to the Barcelona first team at 15. Yamal is the most exciting young player in world football right now, a left-footed right-winger with Messi-like body shape and Robinho-like dribbling angles.
Built around La Masia's possession-first method, with a heavy emphasis on protection and pacing. Yamal's training reputation at 17 is for being the calmest player on the training pitch, almost regardless of who he's playing against. The club has deliberately capped his training load.

Yamal’s game, year by year
Slide through the career. The shape changes, power up, raw pace down, mentality climbing.
From Yamal’s playbook to ours
Five lessons from a 17-year-old playing the most pressurised youth career in modern football, while still keeping his composure.
Rondo every single morning
Yamal's first training session of every day is a rondo, 4v1, two-touch maximum. The drill that has built every great Barcelona midfielder is also building him.
Every Matico Development Centre opens with a rondo block. Same drill, same age-appropriate variation.
Bodyweight only until 18
Yamal does push-ups, planks, single-leg work, banded mobility. No barbell loading. La Masia is famous for protecting growth plates.
Our u14 strength curriculum is bodyweight only. Mobility, hip mechanics, single-leg stability. Loading waits.
10 hours, fixed bedtime
Yamal sleeps 10 hours a night, lights out at 9:30pm in season. Barcelona's youth medical team monitor his sleep weekly.
Our parent handbook recommends 9.5 to 10 hours for u14s and a fixed lights-out time five nights a week.
Mum's cooking, every day
Yamal's diet is built around his mum's cooking. Equatorial Guinean piri-piri chicken, rice, plantain. The Barcelona nutritionist works around her menu, not over it.
Our parent handbook gives a five-meal lunchbox structure. Real food, family heritage, no fizzy drinks.
Family is the recovery system
Yamal lives with his mum and grandmother. Family meals, family conversations, family TV. The club has deliberately not moved him to a single apartment.
We program one fully football-free family evening per week into our Development Centre schedule. Family is not the enemy of professionalism, family is the foundation.
