Feeding the country’s best academies
Most weekly clubs take any child who turns up. They have to, numbers pay the bills. Matico Athletes Club doesn’t.
Players invited based on a single trial session. Squads stay small. Standard rises with the room.
Every coach holds at least FA Level 2. Performance-phase coaches hold FA Advanced Youth Award.
Three phases by developmental stage. Term-by-term progression review. Movement is based on coach assessment of where each player is ready to go next.
Every player is in the room because they want to be. The standard rises with the room. Coaching feedback is honest, specific and direct.
Every Athletes Club session is mapped to all four. No drills for the sake of drills.
Ball mastery, first touch, dribbling, passing accuracy. Every session opens with technical work that builds on the previous week.
Positional awareness, decision-making, attacking and defensive principles, set-piece routines. Live correction during small-sided games.
Age-appropriate conditioning, agility, balance, coordination. Built directly into warm-ups and integrated drills.
Composure under pressure, response to mistakes, resilience, communication on the pitch. Coached explicitly, named, taught and reinforced.
Players progress through three phases. We assess every term. Movement between phases is based on coach review of where each player is ready to go next.
Ages 8–10. Technical fundamentals, fun-led environment, building confidence in possession.
Ages 10–13. Tactical structure, positional understanding, match-realistic decision making.
Ages 13–15. Pre-academy intensity. Physical conditioning, mental resilience, full match analysis.
A session isn’t a workout. It’s a piece of a development arc that runs across the term.
Dynamic activation, technical-focused ball work, the coach reads the room.
Skill of the week, layered drills, individual feedback in real time.
Small-sided games applying the skill block, with live coach correction.
Stretch, takeaways, the one thing to work on this week. Players leave with homework.
Saving everyone the trouble, here’s when Athletes Club is right, and when it isn’t.
“I tried three different academies before Athletes Club. The coaches here actually coach, they don’t just run drills and shout. Eight months in and my son is a measurably different player.”
James, parent of Marcus (12), Phase 2
Trial first. Book a free trial before committing, no pressure, no payment until you’ve seen the room.
Request a trial via the form. We’ll book your child into a session with their age-group’s phase. After the session the coaches give feedback to you and a recommendation. No pressure to join. No payment unless you decide to commit.
Phases are based on developmental stage as well as age. After the trial, our coaches recommend the right phase. If another setup would fit your child better, we’ll tell you honestly, and suggest where to go instead.
Yes, rolling monthly direct debit, cancel any time with 30 days’ notice. No tie-in.
Phase 2 and 3 squads play in regional invitational fixtures most months. Phase 1 doesn’t, the focus is training, not competing.
Sessions run at our partner schools across the South East. We assign a venue based on age group and where you’re travelling from. Venue confirmed before trial.
Many of our players are in pre-academy or development centre setups elsewhere. Athletes Club is designed to complement those, working alongside them. If there’s a clash, we work around it.
The trial is free. The decision is yours after.
